The sustainable development of the mining area is an important link for the sustainable theory and strategy from the top to the bottom and from Macro, Mid to Micro. The dissertation seeks for the sustainable development of the mining area from the scope of Resources, Economy and Environment by exploring the sustainable development in the mining area and taking the most important key factors-resources, economy and environment-as the main analyzing content. In the thesis, the author gives the clear definitions for ''Mining Area" and '"Sustainable development of the Mining Area", analyzes the characteristics of the resources endowment in a mining area, regulates the optimal behavior of the mining area with the revised Hotelling Model and describe the desirables stage model for the mining area under the sustainable development. The author sets up a structure model with the industrial perpetuation, capital management and technical innovation to attain the economic sustainable development and analyzes the specialties of these three components and the relationship between them under the sustainable development of the mining area. The dissertation discourses on the imperfect ecological character of the mining area, introduces the new ideas of environment protection to the mining area, such as clean production, ecological industry and recycling economy, and puts forward a new way to attain the environmental sustainable development of the mining area-building an ecological park of the mining area. The thesis regards the sustainable development of the mining area as substituting ideas conclusively and the mining area will attain the sustainable development by substitution of the resources, economy and environment.
