Management consultant belongs to knowledge employee, such career claims professional management consultant should have excellent and perfect competence, so it is necessary for consulting company to carry through consultant competence construction and development. Existing researches have thrown light on competence construction of management consultant, in other words, scholars mainly research which competence management consultant should have. Yet little is done on the systematic research of management consultant's competence construction and development. By surveys and referring plentiful research finding on competence construction and development, this research will not only analyzes competence constitution of management consultant, but also will put forward with consultant's competence construction and development in six aspects: competence-based job description, competence-based performance management, training and development, knowledge management, competence-based and knowledge-shared-based motivation mechanism and personal learning. In a word, the research tries to make two problems clear: what is the competence of management consultant and how to improve it.
