As the well-known old section in Guangzhou, Dongshan District is one of overseas Chinese hometowns in Guangzhou. In Dongshan, there are more than one hundred and ten thousand returned overseas Chinese, domestic relatives of overseas Chinese and people of Hong Kong, Macao, and there are also more than one hundred and twenty thousand emigrants that are living in over fifty countries and areas. Since the reform and opening up, while taking full advantage of numerous emigrants and their domestic relatives, the departments of overseas Chinese affairs have emphasized key points of work for economic development in Dongshan, and adopted vigorous measures for importing capitals, technologies and personnels, which therefore has brought about the rapid development of enterprises of overseas Chinese invested (EOCI) & Overseas Chinese Domestic Relatives Invested (EOCDRI). These flouring enterprises not only prosper the economy of Dongshan, but also advance the internationalization of the whole economy.Based on methods of questionnaire and discussion, this thesis is the direct result of investigation towards the EOCI & EOCDRI in Dongshan District. The thesis gives a detailed description about the development of EOCI & EOCDRI, their present state of affairs and their comments on the relevant policies, and it also analyze the major problems of the enterprises. On the basis of the above investigation and analysis, the author puts forward several points of view on the future development of the enterprises. By means of the studies on EOCI & EOCDRI in Dongshan District, the author hopes to make a bit contribution to the studies of overseas Chinese hometown in Guangdong province.
