Women's Participation In Village Elections

After there are the village elections, the women' s political participation have changed. Women don' t act under the order of organizations but compete for the member of village committees the same as men.But nowaday in the villages, because resources between men and women are unequal, men usually encroach women' s right. Meanwhile women can' t change the situation due to themselves' weakness.On the base of describing the case village election, the paper analyses the cause of the phenomenon from the angles of subject, object and environment of political participation. Then the paper point out that sexual culture, the weakness of women' s union and the mistakes of village elections are the main causes to prevent women from participating village elections.To promote the women' s political participation, the measures should be implement as fellows:First, government should play a more positive role.Second, equal sexual culture should be developed. Third, women' s union should play a more important role. Forth, village election should be supervised and regulated.
