The steel making process and requirement of upcoming continue casting process for the quality of liquid steel in Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation has been discussed. To increase the rate of hitting the grade of liquid steel based on match between converter and continuos caster in capacity is considered as a promising way to improve process control and make production cost-efficient at steel making division. Based on LGMIS and the model of process-control of converters, the factors, which impact to the hit ratio of grade of liquid steel, have been investigated in details. The influence of quality and availability of primary raw materials, such as hot metal, semi-steel and mixture hot metal and semi-steel, on quality of liquid steel has investigated. However, to improve the quality and availability of primary raw materials for steel making converter is considered as a way to improve control of steel making process and quality of liquid steel.A model for prediction of the temperature and carbon content of liquid steel at the end of blowing and optimization of process has been established based on LGMIS and PZLGPS. A decision-making support sub-system for quality control of BOF process, which can be embedded into the decision-making support system for steel making process at Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation, has been planning and designed. The optimizing process variables for quality control of steel making process at Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation has been achieved according to the model and process data from LGMIS and system of process computer of converters.
