In the light of the particular background of network economy, the article uses large quantity of living examples to study the strategic alliance in a qualitative method. Continuing the organization changes in the last century, the strategic alliance of network time presents some essential differences compared with old-fashioned alliances. In the article, the origin, background and new characters of the strategic alliance of network time are analyzed in general meaning at first. Then, it examines the alliance campaign in view of the value chain, where the strategic alliance is thought of as the sharing and integrating activity between the value chains. To reflect the types of the strategic alliance of network time objectively and comprehensively, the article puts forward a new dividing method according to competitive relation involved and driving factors. However, it is easy to say than to do, to construct a successful strategic alliance calls for three steps, establishing common vision, re-constructing value chain and building a network platform. Although there have existed many strategic alliances in China since 80's, such as joint ventures, we should put it into practice in a larger range for the strategic alliance is a good way for Chinese enterprises to involve in global competition. It concludes that Chinese enterprises need the strategic alliance to improve operation and strengthen competence.
