In 1990's, the growing speed of passenger transport has surpassed that of cargo transport and become the trend of traffic industry development in the new period. There is an obvious digressive trend of waterway passenger transport volume and turnover volume because of the fierce competition between railway, road and aviation, and relative falling behind of waterway technology. It is faced with new chances and challenges that waterway transport stands in an inferior position in the competition with other modes of passenger transport; normal passenger and cargo ships turn to an aged trend, which is contradicted with the safety and comfort of passenger transport; service quality of most waterway passenger transport enterprises and waterway market management need to be improved.So it is necessary to study deeply the influence to waterway passenger transport of society economic development, to analyze the trend of passenger transport market, to adjust the structure and to make plan in order to adapt to the new trend of passenger transport market.The article analyzed the passenger transport status of Bohai gulf and east area of China, ship type structures and problems of domestic passenger transport fleet, status and development of coastal passenger transport volume, and passenger/rolling ship type of course onDal ian-Yantai, Dalian- Weihai,Dalian-Longkou,Dalian-Xingang,Dalian-Shangh ai.Based on history data and materials, used metrology and economy model to forecast the passenger and vehicle transport volume for the future. The author put forward program of China Shipping Company passenger transport, aiming at the situation.
