Research On China's Raw Silk Export Trade

This dissertation discusses the situation of China's raw silk exportation insix parts as follows:Firstly, In order to illustrate the economic position of raw silk productionand exportation in our country based on the historical data of sericulture andsilk trade, we analyzed the international position of sericulture and theeconomic position of China's raw silk trade through the development ofChina's sericulture, the change of China's silk trade structure, the position ofsilk trade in our foreign trade and the position of raw silk export in our silktrade.Secondly, we analyzed the related situations of the main markets, whichour raw silk exported, including Japan, South Korea, India, Hong Kong andWestern Europe and clarified the history and the status quo of the main rawsilk export markets.Thirdiy, using the methd of "Revealed" Comparative Advantae, weillustratd the export competition of the natural spin fibers, Which Chinaexported. Anong the natural spin fibers, Which China exported, thecomparaive advanage of raw silk is very high (RCA>24.0), and it owns verystrong competition in intemational markets.Fourthly, using the method of econometrics, we discussed how to decidethe export price in those markots meniioned above. Here, the export modelwas made up to calculate the comparaive price elasticity in those markats.Fifthly, lined-regression models of raw silk production and trade weremade uP to forecast the raw silk production and exportation of the world andChina.Finally, we sumxnarized six reasons, Which haPpened in the raw silkexportation and give the coUnermeasures.The innovations in the dissertation are:l. Using the method of "Revealed" ComParative Advantage, wecalcu1ated the comparative advanage of raw silk export.2.
