Xinbao Import & Export Corporation——Study Of The Culture Of "Government Merchants" In State-owned Foreign Trade Company

This is a case about Xinbao Import & Export Corporation, a stste-owned foreign trade company. From the year 2000, Xinbao failed to make structural reform and to take the form of contract in order to make progress. Subsequently Xinbao got into trouble in 2001. From this case, we make an attempt to search for the reason latent in the corporate culture and get the result that the culture of 揼overnment merchants?prevalent in stste-owned foreign trade companies can not accommodate themselves to the market-directed economy developing in China. Based on this viewpoint, we suggest to construct democratic mechanism in company as a way to change the corporate culture in existence in order to help stste-owned foreign trade companies to break away from troubles.
