Computer Graphics Technology Applying In Documentary

CG technology has changed the production way and creative processes of film and television, pushed the visual effects into a new height and promoted the development of digital video art. Although the CG technology has been widely used in Film and TV, because of high costs, technical difficulty and so on, CG technology has so far not widely used in various types of documentary creation.In order to resolve these problems, the author try to integrate CG technology and traditional Documentary's practices, by using computer graphics technology, improve Documentary's ornamental and art, explore the ways to use CG technology in small cost documentary, and provide a new method of documentary creation for the film and television workers.Firstly, by reading a lot of domestic and foreign literature, the author discussed the theoretical basis of CG techniques used in of documentary research, based on the study of the impact of CG technology on contemporary documentary films and visual art. Secondly, the author analyzed the feasibility of CG technology film on the documentary, from the theoretical to practical aspects, and the principle of creation and creative production process, by watching a large number of examples of contemporary documentary. The author also carefully studied the CG technology and the production method of conventional documentary. Based on above analyzes, the author chose the creative process of producting animation by three-dimensional animation software and integrate CG animation and actual scenes with After Effect software; Thirdly, by studying three-dimensional animation, track reverse engineering, camera film technology and AE special effects production technology, the author used 3D animation softwares such as 3DS Max, ZBrush and VRay to realize the setting of virtual scene of documentary and the output settings of animation scenes. The author applied Boujou software to achieve a successful integration of virtual scenes and true scenes, through the reverse path. The author used After Effect software to composite music and picture, adjust the color effect and produce the light effects. Finally, based on the above work, the author used Conpus Edus compositing software to finish a small cost documentary "Fairview Jinhua." The film has been broadcasted in Jinhua City, Zhejiang province, which is highly approved by the client and the audience. The author's research and practical application proves that the CG technology used in documentary, especially the small cost of the creation of the documentary is feasible. The CG technology can greatly improve the visual effects and artistic quality of documentary, which is worthy to be widely promotion and application.With the development of computer technology, virtual reality and artificial intelligence technology, CG technology is in a rapidly developing situation, and it will have a profound impact on the creation patterns of the Documentary Films. CG technology will become increasingly widely used in the documentary's creation.
