On New National Music Thoughts In Chinese Modern Times

After the Opium War, western music came to China and had an great affect on chinese music world. It is inevitable that there was comparison between western music and chinese music ,so the term"national music"which was used to distinguish from western music appeared .Most of musicians gradually recognized that chinese traditional music could come up to the request of the new age no longer ,then they offered each view about the question of the chinese music's future.In Wusi period ,WangGuangqi proposed that we should bring ritual music'spirit in ancient times to create a kind of new national music .This view highlighted the spirit of"harmony"which can motivate People's national character ;another view which was represnted by LiuTianhua maintained that we should draw on the western music theory and composition to create the new national music on the base of traditional music.This opinion mainly center around the backward and Improvement about score,instrument,theory,composition and rank concept,musical concept of Chinese ;Influenced by western aesthetics ,Qingzhu put forward the opinion that music should not be divided into national music and western music ,This opinion is one part of the new national music thoughts too .There's mainly two kinds of new national music thoughts in Anti-Japanese War ,one of which believe that music's content more important to its form .This view which was represnted by Chenhong and XiaoYoumei subvert the traditional explaination of"national music".They believe that it is new national music if it's content could display spirit of the new times ,no matter what its form is ;another view proposed by YangYinliu ,he brought up the view of"excessive merge"and summarised up what should to be noticed during the study of national music .His opinion didn't highlight the division between western music and national music ,or the content music performance ,and he didn't obliterated the differences between them .He rationally analyzed the deficiency and the future of national music ,which showed the summary and the reflection made by the musician in late Anti-Japanese War. During the liberation, the quantity of thesis which was about"national music"reduced ,but new music's nationalization thoughts mix with new national music thoughts made up the study of national music's future together.New national music thoughts is one of the most important thoughts in Chinese Modern Times ,one of the most part of the study of relation between national music and western music which throughout the modern times .
