The Gist Of DaTong's Sources And Flows

"DaTong" was first seen in the paper, it was a part of Confucian classics, describing a perfect society in the ancient where the whole world as one community (Tian xia wei gong), electing able candidates (Xuan xian yu neng) and taking each other with universal love (Jian'ai he le). However, the meaning of "DaTong" was changed during with the historical development, it is a modern tradition now. In this paper, I wanted to find out DaTong's sources and flows, and then detected its position in the intellectual history. The first part of this paper explained the word "DaTong" by textual analysis;The second part analysed DaTong's sources and then indicated that "DaTong" was out of the range of Confucian,but including something of Taoists and Mohist school. The third part analysed DaTong's flows,and then pointed out that because of "DaTong" wasn't a pure Confucian Utopia,further more, Utopia was not the main trend of idealistic social pattern in ancient China, "DaTong" stayed a low site for a long time until this 20th centry.At that time,Kangyouwei connectedwith,taked as the most valuable idea of Confucius.From then on, "DaTong" became a common goal of all Chinese,and turned to an important position.
