With the development of computer technology, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), coming out in the late 1960's, has won widely attention among people around the world and studies on it have also gained certain achievements. At the same time, with the extensive introduction and intensive study of autonomous & collaborative learning (AL & CL) and the recognition of the importance of Extracurricular English Learning (EEL) in language learning field, researchers shift their focus into out-of-class AL & CL under CALL Environment (CE). Although computer technology offers many beneficial conditions for the construction of AL & CL environment, some new types of instructional problems come out correspondingly under the new environment. For example, do students have necessary computer literacy; what general attitudes do students hold towards out-of-class autonomous learning and collaborative learning under CALL environment, etc. This paper aims to discover some problems through the investigation of English major undergraduates'necessary computer knowledge, current situation of extracurricular English learning under CALL environment, students'attitudes towards AL & CL and their autonomous and collaborative learning abilities in extracurricular English learning under CALL environment, and then to find some countermeasures to improve the efficiency of extracurricular English learning under CALL environment. This thesis adopts questionnaire and interview as the instruments. The participants are sophomores and juniors who come from Foreign Language College, Chongqing University. The questionnaire results are as follows: students'computer literacy is already at the level of supporting their English learning under CALL environment; students hold positive attitudes toward extracurricular English learning under CALL environment; concerning their attitudes towards autonomous learning and collaborative learning in extracurricular English learning under CALL environment, the former is indefinite with lots of answers falling in neutral value, while the later is more positive; under CALL environment, students'AL & CL abilities are not very satisfying with great room for further improvement. As for AL, the ability in goal setting is the best performed one, while the abilities in strategy use, self-monitoring and self-evaluating are not satisfying; the biggest problem in students'CL ability is that students do not do very well in terms of communication. Moreover, the qualitative analysis of interview offers some valuable evidence for future practice.By investigating the problems existing in English major students'attitudes towards AL & CL under CALL environment and their abilities in that, some suggestions from three general aspects (the integration of AL & CL; the improvement of AL; the promotion of CL) are given for students'and teachers'reference with the hope of improving AL & CL in extracurricular English learning under CALL environment.
