The thesis is going to investigate the political crisis at the end of Tukulti-Ninurta I's reign and to analyze its causes. The thesis deduces some basic facts basing on the relevant historical materials and available studies in order to rebuild the course of the crisis and its causes. The conclusion is: at the end of Tukulti-Ninurta I's reign, because of the lost of Assyria's military activities, especially in Southern Babylonia, Assyrian economy and commerce were severely damaged; hence impacted the life of Assyrian grand businessman-families, priests group and the massive Assyrian people, among whom, the lofty ruling class, heading with the high court officials, nursed their wrath to the ruler. This internal political conflict tempered Assyrian military power, whereas intensified the internal political situation. Meanwhile, building of new capital city Kar-Tukulti-Ninurta deteriorated the situation because of the immense consumption of fisk. In addition, the competition of the throne among the sons of Tukulti-Ninurta I should also be a reason. Finally, the union of high court officials and a prince overthrew rule of Tukulti-Ninurta I.The thesis consists of 3 main sections. The introduction will state the aim, the research resources, and the existed studies on the topic. The main part will divide into 3 chapters. Chapter 1 will narrate the founding of Tukulti-Ninurta I Empire in order to provide historical background for the next 2 chapters. Chapter 2 will elucidate the course and the aftermath of the political crisis at the end of Tukulti-Ninurta I's reign to ascertain some key facts: 1. the identification of two princes; 2. Tukulti-Ninurta I's rule of Babylonia, and 3. the sequence of three Babylonian kings. Chapter 3 will analyze the causes of the political crisis focusing on the lost of Southern Babylonia. Final section is the conclusion.
