1985-2005 Chinese Performance Art

The 20th century80's , Performance Art appeared in China. China Performance Art has gone through more than 20 years in china, and gradually evolved into an independent Chinese contemporary art ,and gave the issue of China's contemporary an avant-garde thinking in a marginalized way.But the expression of Performance Art(sex public,violence, gore, nudity, etc) is different from the Chinese long-standing aesthetic morality,so it does not be accepted in a very long time.The answers to these questions need us to understand the true background of Performance Art, the ideological background of the development of contemporary art,the art features and so on. The basis of performance art is still very weak, and fragmented, there is little information, and specialized researchers are few. This paper tried to analyze the 1980s works of Performance Art ,and selected some representative works, analyzed the course of their development, and the common characteristics, and Interpret them in the context of social change and t cultural transformation .Through the analysis of cultural background, we can understand the behavior of artists who take care of social corner that the mainstream of the arts in our daily life do not related to in the changing times,and fight for the rights of another discourse,and confirm the role that the Performance Art played in Chinese contemporary art and the whole development history of Chinese art. Also we can see its problems, such as the imitation of the West, the simplicity of expression, etc., it is the only way to understand performance art rightly, and create a "Chinese identity" Performance Art that accepted by audience.
