Another Kind Of Scenery

The "Zhi qing" writers from Beijing who settle in the countryside of Yan'an as members of agricultural production brigades are a special group. Although they share the same experience with those who settle in other areas as members of agricultural production brigades, their work reveals much more a unique style under the influence of regional culture in northern plateau of Shaanxi. Clearly outlining spiritual journey of these writers through ages, exploring the characteristics of their works in different historical stages,and studying the artistic and aesthetic style of their works are the focuses of this dissertation.Chapter one discusses the historical formation of "Zhi qing" writers , including outlining their living situation and emotional experience, exploring their cultural background and creation activity when they just toddling into literary world, tracing the gradual development of their writing style with history changes.Chapter two talks about these writers'creation during the Cultural Revolution. Through revealing living with enthusiasm the theme contained in their works, we analyze these writers'political statement and the historical and artistic inspiration from their works on the creation in new ages, furthermore, we discuss the writing under the guidance of integration ideal by taking Ideal Song as a case to study.Chapter three, we probe into these writers'creation in new ages, mainly from the following three phases discussion: Qingping bay on missing life, reflections on living conditions and deep thought into human nature, by taking theme changes in their works as a main line.From a geographical and cultural point of view, Chapter four explores the artistic style and features of works of writers chiefly in three aspects which embody the style: portraying natural conditions and social customs of northern plateau of Shaanxi, fusing into their works of folk art factors, creating a romantic lyric atmosphere.This dissertation gives an overall investigation of works of writers from three respects of age, region and creation subject. In the mean time, it comprehensively examines the contents of works of writers combining regional culture.
