Since the emergence of the term "feminist art", people have never stopped concerning about the feminist art. Female art, or feminist art? The debate on the differences and relations between female art and feminist art has been in progress, and the public express their different opinions. Return to seven eighties the twentieth century of the initial stage of feminism, and at the point of feminist art theory of research pioneer Linda Nochlin's "Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?", this paper will provide a detailed analysis of the art theory and research methods. Meanwhile, it will combine Nochlin's art theory and the contemporary Chinese feminist art. This paper will also discuss the concept of feminist art which is a woman's art on the one hand and on the other hand, it is different from the arts of the previous female self-consciousness with gender symbols. Feminist art has existed in China, and it has experienced soliloquy-form germination stage and self-style-form embryonic period. By analyzing the current exhibition and interviews, this paper will try to find visual text trend of the Chinese feminist art.
