During the period of 1960s-1970s, when China was occupying the "Cultural Revolution" time, western countries were experiencing the prosperous time of the post-modern art, which is the transition from the modern art to the post modern art, is one cultural ideological trend evolution; its essence is one kind of the real sense "Great Cultural Revolution". Nearly at the same time, in 1966,China erupted unprecedented the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution", and its slogans were "broken greatly four old, stands greatly four new", "sweeps away all monsters and freaks" and so on, which full of the innovative spirit and fetter rebelling to the traditional convention and constraint! With the process of the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution", the field of artistic creation in China has diversified the artistic form with this the "movement".The early artistic works and the artists were nearly all sealed and lock in the "ivory tower", their works only for the upper circles society to enjoy, and the "ivory tower" was away from the common people's life.The purpose of the western post-modern art is to go out of the "ivory tower" and get close to the common people. It is the artists'social responsibility of creating and enlightening the human thought, and leading people fully exhibit individual achievement value and offer value during the society's developing process.As early as in May 2nd and 23rd,1942, Mao Zedong's speeches in Yan'an forum on literature and art, basically referred to the question about the artistic literary created for what kind of people; the popularization and the enhancement question; the content and the form unified question; and the eulogy and the exposed question and so on has carried on the exhaustive elaboration. In which the literary creation created for what kind of people question and the exposed question shared the same idea and knowledge with the western post-modern art's ideological trend. The art during the "Cultural Revolution" in China had a strong unity with the western post-modern art, such as the multiple forms, popularity and enlightening people's thinking and so on, but there was also a huge difference between the two in the social function, cultural ideology, political science, psychology and so on.This paper is a comparative study between the Eastern art and the Western art thinking cause, the form, the purpose,, the identity and difference of the works and so on., and the paper further extends to the Eastern art and Western art direction in the information epoch and the interpenetration and the trend of development of them.
