The Confucian Temple is used for people making their offering to Kong Zi and his disciples. And it's also conceived as the carrier and the symbol of Confucianism culture. Since the first Confucian Temple was built in 478 BC in Qufu, Shandong Province, all the following Chinese dynasties built it, so the distribution range and construction quantity expand unceasingly, and the Confucian Temple could finally reached a peak during the Ming and Qing dynasties. After late-Qing Dynasty's social agitation, the Republic of China time's chaos caused by war and new China constructed with a series of destructions, those Confucian temples were really few in number and the major of them were only retaining part of buildings.In recent years, various places also realized the importance of the cultural relics protection, and many Confucian temples which were occupied can be took seriously and protected, maintained and repaired again. Academic study of the Confucian temple is also increased, but the material collation of those local Confucian temples is slightly behind in progress.At present, the academic study of the Confucian temple in Gansu Province is still in blank, and this article considered from the angle of cultural heritage protection, tried to demonstrate and show the history and the current situation of Confucian Temple remains in Gansu Province. After a brief introduction in the historical development and functions of the Confucian temple, this article focuses on those current-preserved Confucian temples in Gansu Province. The writer hoped that this paper can be helpful to Confucian temple's protection, development and utilization in Gansu Province.
