Lu ling is one of the famous writers on present Chinese literature, whose novel the sons and daughters of the rich man is a very valuable novel on present Chinese literature and its publication is regarded as one great event on history of Chinese new literature. The novel is lauded as "the cyclopedia of sentiment and volition of Chinese intellectuals since the May 4th Movement. Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky is one of the most great Russian litterateurs in 19th century, whose long novel the Brothers Karamazov is his last work. The two novels present society history and ethical history in that time by utilizing the society basic units——families, which concentrate the history change and evolution. We can also find that the two authors have the similar spirit and temperament. They are both good to dig human's soul and torment the soul with cruelty nearly, so the two novels can not only grasp time's sphygmus, but also deeply question and interrogate the spirit destination of intellectuals. Just because of this, the two novels are not only the record of history and they have more important effect on human spirit. It is very valuable and significant to compare the two novels to learn the development mark and artistic style of family novels.After explaining the significance of comparison, the thesis discusses it in four chapters. Firstly, the thesis sketches the difference and sameness between Chinese and Russian families'evolution and the epoch background of the two novels. The thesis illuminates the ethic psychological difference between Chinese and Russian by pointing out that Chinese families relied more on kin relationship in clan structure while Russian families emphasize more collective will in the early Russian rustic structure. The two authors both see that the only outlet for intellectuals is stepping toward people, which expresses rightly the great significance of the two works, that is, finding out the human spirit outlet by question human nature afflictively. Though the theme has great complexity and is difficult to exposure, the two authors made a struggle to search with anguish and angst nearly.
