Abstract/Summary:
Through three experiments, this research inspects that the impact of different spatial frequency to the face configural processing is whether same, so thant we can research the relations between face configural processing and different spatial frequency. In experiment 1,we view the distance as independent variables to control, then the result is that under the two viewing distance, the congruent effect of three spatial frequency faces were consistent significant, and the effect size was no significant difference, thus this finding demonstrates that the viewing distance has no influence on research, and both of the results support the second conclusion: both of the low and high spatial frequency on the face of the configural processing have played an important role. In Experiment 2 ,we reversed face as experimental material, reversing face may damage configural information of the faces, thus reducing the congruent effect .the results find that reverse significantly weaken the congruent effect of the three spatial frequency faces, and compared with upright faces, the congruent effect of the normal faces and the high spatial frequency faces has no significant. In Experiment 3, by adding the prime face, which may provide the gestalt information that low and high spatial frequency faces each one do not have , That is according to its need separately, two kind of spatial frequency face processes the gestalt information from the prime face which each one lacks, the results reveal both of the two kinds of spatial frequency's the congruent effect have been significantly improved. In this research, the results of experiments 1-3 all have demonstrated the conclusion that the low and high spatial frequency on the face of the configural processing have played an important role, and there is no primary or secondary.
