As a contemporary philosophy, Marcuse is always concerned about the present human being's living condition. Facing changes of western society resulted from new technological revolution, he made critical analysis on the developed industrial society by using negative reality critical thinking, to convince that the gradual integration of totalitarianism and consumerism in developed industrial society resulted in an "overall alienation of modern people".As to how to eliminate such alienation of modern people, Marcuse started from his own unique academic background and research perspective, and put forward the theory of "Eros liberation" with modified Freudianism as a supplement to Marx's idea about human nature. He also pointed out the liberation road of "aesthetics to arts" in Aesthetic Dimension, finishing his human theory system. This essay is mainly divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the basic connotation of Marcuse'human theory. With human essence, human existence and human liberation as main line, it strives to grasp the profound connotation of Marcuse's philosophy from the viewpoint of human thought. Using Freud's psychoanalytic theory, Marcuse pointed out that Eros was the human essence, and the civilized society resulted in oppression of human Eros, making people immersed in infinite sufferings. In view of the way to realize liberation of human essence,Marcuse drew a conclusion after series of theories and practical exploration that the liberation of human essence could only be achieved in the arts—aesthetics mode. The "Aesthetics Dimension" revolution centered by arts and literature could shape the new human psychology radically---conceptual structure, so as to realize human liberation. The second part mainly discusses the features of Marcuse's human theory, which has its unique academic background and features. In this part, it shows its difference from the point of uniqueness of his theory, which falls into five parts.First, existence is the starting point of his human theory; Second is the oppression of Eros:Marcuse's interpretation of practical existence of human alienation; third is the liberation of Eros: theory destination of Marcuse's human theory;Fourth is the combination of rationalism and non-rationalism; Fifth is the critical and negative analysis mode.In the third part, it tries to explore the value and limits of Marcuse's human theory in review of his human theory. Finally, it makes a summary of main contents and features of this essay in conclusion.
