Crtical Study Of Liu Chang's Poetry

Liu Chang was a poet with rich knowledge in the middle stage of the Song Dynasty. He made friends with Ouyang Xiu, Mei Yaochen, contacted with them frequently and their friendship was very deep. They wrote poem for each other and Liu Chang's poem was very different from the others. His poem had different characteristics and had an important part in that times.Liu Chang had Confucian ideas and had Taoism too, so he used to be very inconsistent, sometimes he was positive and sometimes he was negative. The content and style of his poem was very multiple and made the poetic circles more rich.This article is divided into three chapters. Chapter one studied Liu Chang and his Friendship Circle, and found that he was willing to be friend with the men who was older than him. He made friends with Ouyang Xiu, Mei Yaochen, Jiang Xiufu and so on, and had deep feelings with them. Ou and Mei had written a lot of poems in the Luo Zhong area, this poems affect with Liu Chang's poem. Liu Chang joined them positively and had written lots of poems then. His poems was especial and in his poems he had disseminated the Confucian ideas, and had taken an important part in the Poetry innovation. Chapter two studied the content of Liu Chang's poem, and learnt the positive and negative thought showed in his poems. Liu Chang had made a great progress in the study of Confucian classics and he believed that the morality in the old books was a tool of administrating the country. So he wrote poems to interpret the old truth in the beginning of the Chinese Dynasty, and he was so positive that he had expressed his enthusiasm in his poems. But he was failed. When his political aspirations frustrated, he was very lonely. At this time, he use the spirit of Taoism as its backbone, through the fairy to retire from the world, he was attracted toward Zhuangzi's way of life, followed the example of Tao Yuanming, seeking the spirit of Quyuan and Ruanji. All of these were all the of "Zhuangzi" laissez-faire nature, homogeneous material experience good health, born of the endeavor Liu Chang made. The third chapter analyzes the poetry of the artistic features of Liu Chang, Liu Chang poems have "magical, wanton composed" character; he had been good at creating broad and majestic, full of majestic's spirit, vigor of high health; moreover the poems of the scenery describing has a fresh and light peculiarity. So we can see Liu Chang's poems are so variety and Liu Chang poetry performance of the most artistic value.
