Study On Contextual Adaptation Of Internet Language Based On Memetics

As a new variety of language, internet language emerges as required and grows increasingly in the highly developing internet community.Taking memetic theory and adaptation theory as the rationale, this thesis attempts to analyze the process of internet language memes and discuss adaptation of internet language memes to internet context from the perspective of adaptation theory. Considered as the major objects of the study, internet language memes are explained in detail concerning the way of the formation and transmission. Based on adaptation theory, the contextual adaptation theory is applied to expound the adaptation of internet language memes to internet context in two aspects:linguistic context and communicative context. Then the author concludes that internet language memes and internet context interact with each other to promote the development of both sides.The cognitive integration of memetic theory and adaptation theory will be proposed to analyze the relationship of internet language and internet context. This is not the first time to integrate the two theories; however, it is the latest attempt on the analysis of internet language and internet context. The significance is to make contribution to the corresponding researches and provide some help for the further studies related to internet.
