As a product of the industrial society, cars since the birth of the day is beyond the scope of transport, loaded with specific social attributes and cultural identity. This article outlines the relationship between cars and modern Chinese society, and the automotive writing in modern literature, on this basis, trying to dig out the figure of cars in the city novels of Mao Dun in the 1930s'. Represented mainly through the car of modern material civilization and traditional culture of the collision, car written on the modernization of Mao Dun reflected in the material and spiritual dimensions of experience level, and the image of sustenance and automotive vision of the nation Mao Dun desire destiny to write three to sort out most of the cars.Since the car entering China in 1901, which advocate for the Western stereotype of modern materials to surf in the streets of Chinese city and come into the vision of the writers. Imagine a kind of self-consistent with the aesthetic image of writers involved in the field of literature. In the 1930s', cars truly exists in the community of living space in Shanghai, with dynamic, stylish, supple posture into the urban culture of the territory,which shake the foundations of old Chinese traditions and tries to promote the material and spiritual aspects of China's modernization process.However, its identity is so special,which is full of westernized color and the complex social situation in China, cars did not integrate into the life of urban culture immediately,and its image is full of complex meaning. Specific to the works of Mao Dun,it appears with the advanced image artifacts,demonstrating the impact of traditional Chinese culture and the praise Mao Dun of Western material,while it is also showing the back of a rational attitude toward modernization and emotional level,the distance between Mao Dun sence. It is diffcult moment of life experience into a natural writer, writers can hardly be though to enter space and perception.From the perspective of rational and emotional dimensions, observing the 1930s'of the car on the writing of Mao Dun, and find a modern sense of color and implied innocence transition in Shanghai at that time. Modernization is both a long process of repeated and an incentive to build the imagination of people,whlie car as a synonym for social progress and the material on behalf of the industrial age, to participate in the historical narrative of Mao Dun, which become a modern representation of a typical material.
