Author of the thesis attempts to attain three stages of feminist's consciousness in novels through analysis of feature of the main figures in Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth and Pavilion of Women. Through adopting parallel comparison, condition and reason of each stage are probed in detail. In addition, the thesis makes an analysis that Pearl's own experience exerts an important influence on the feminist in her works.Firstly, the thesis makes a simple inquiry into construction of Pearl S. Buck's feminist in her writing to lay a foundation to analyze reasons for each stage of feminist consciousness in novels, and author also gives outline, purpose and originality of the thesis. Secondly, the thesis comes to the literature review of Pearl S. Buck's works at home and abroad, pointing out the deficiency. Thirdly, the thesis focuses on analysis of feature of discourse and body of key figures in The Good Earth, knowing condition and reason for the first stage of feminist. Meanwhile, it discusses how the key character rebels against patriarchal culture in Pavilion of Women to display various feminist's consciousness. However, when resisting, all sorts of conflicts and confusions come into existence. It appears that male status is in the wrong place and the thesis analyzes its reason. Furthermore, the thesis attempts to have a discussion of process of leading character's thought transformation in Pavilion of Women, expounding its reasons. Finally author of the thesis reiterates three stages, status and reason of feminist consciousness in novels. Based on Woolf's androgyny theory, it comes to a conclusion that harmonious coexistence is the goal of feminism's consciousness in two novels.
