These early experiences painted a striking background of his poetry. In 1938, he went to Yan'an, the revolutionary base. He became a real soldier and got acquainted with some comrades and friends. The acquaintance with Korean composer Zheng Liucheng greatly promoted his creation of his poetry. In 1940, XiaoSan presented him"Leaves of Grass"and he was greatly influenced by Whitman, He expressed his emotion with long parallelism in his creation of poetry. His early creation was full of the chracterstics of variety, but the passion and sincerity shown by his poetry and the national sentiment and revolutionary feeling expressed by him were the common emotional tone of his works. In the middle of fifties, GongMu changed his style of his poetry from magnificent singing to profound criticism. He created a lot of works which cover a wide range and reflect reality. This rational presentation of ironical poetry come out because of the change of history and the accumulation of personal experience. The poet began to observe the society with humanism, democracy and freedom of individuality. The purpose of criticism is not as early satirical poetry which is a new exploration in the field of his new creation rather than pure cynical. The real purpose is to save the sick and warn the world. This just reflects his sense of social responsibility as a scholar, the love to his life, the concerning of his career, the responsibility to the people. From passion to rationality, he reflected not only politics of the times, but also the feelings about his whole life.In the late seventies of the 20th century and the early eighties, after it experienced resistance civil war, the"Cultural Revolution"and a time of turbulence and disaster, the Chinese Nation finally went into a new era. However, GongMu was very old. Looking back half of his tragicomic life, recalling the troubled history of the Chinese Nation, he couldn't help reflecting the social history and his own life experience. The result of his reflection is not disappointing and angry but deep. The poet explored not only the personal experience of the real world, but also the ontological meaning of the universe and life. The later poems of passion and sincerity were melted with more philosophy which were full of expression of wisdom. However, perhaps the poet`s thought was very deep and anxious to express. His later poems paid much attention to the deep meaning of his poetry, but neglected the artistic process of the poetry, lack of the moving forces of his precious works.Form passion to ration to rationality, from rationality to wisdom, his poetry is the mentality of trarersed. It is the inevitable result that personal expercince of the poet and the social and historical changes affected together. However, the passion to praise and rationality to criticize, his main purpose of his poetry is the responsibility to society, the true heart to the country and the people, the desire to the truth.
