The thesis attempts to rethink the doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of ethics at the base of researching the concept of doctor-patient relationship and investigating the current situation, and then construct a harmonious doctor-patient relationship for human health.Doctor-patient relationship is the relation between the medical and the sick in medical process. Doctor-patient relationship has a narrow sense and a broad sense. Narrow doctor-patient relationship is a specific healing relationship between doctor and patient in medical process, in other words, the relationship between doctor and patient. In broad doctor-patient relationship the medical is not only medical staff but also hospital technical staff, health care administrators, medical support staff etc. Similarly, the sick is not only patient but also their relatives, care stuff, unit colleagues etc. Therefore modern doctor-patient relationship mainly is the relation between two groups. (Doctor is the core of one group; Patient is the core of the other group.) This involves three aspects: ethical relation, economic relation and legal relation. Ethical relation is the theme of my thesis, which is a kind of relations, in which doctor and patient separately accords to certain moral principles and norms. The principle of interpersonal behavior determines doctor's obligations and patient's rights in the process of treatment. Doctor-patient relationship can be summarized as three modes: active-passive, guidance-cooperation, participation. However, because of social transformation the doctor-patient relationship becomes tenser and tenser. For the reasons we must build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. The thesis reveals the ethical dimension and advances a specific medical ethics, which is a kind of moral remodeling at the base of respecting life. The medical ethics contains two aspects: which kind of men one should be and which kind of doctors one should be; what one person should do and what one doctor should do. The traditional doctor-patient relationship is mainly the relation between doctor and patient. In modern society it demands the transcendence. Doctor-patient relationship doesn't only refer to doctor and patient but also the group about patient and the group about doctor, even more, including hospitals, medical schools, research units, health administration etc. With the doctor-patient relationship complicating, the ethical dimension of the one becomes larger and larger. Therefore what it should be done also includes policies, strategies, systems and legislation we design. The thesis appeals improving the doctor-patient relationship from the angle of ethics so that respects life. As a health care worker one should understand to respect life firstly, and then respect patient's autonomy. Secondly a health care worker should respect patient's informed consent and informed choice. Finally a health care worker should respect patient's privacy. Under such conditions, health care workers can rebuild moral. There are three points. The first one is"restrain oneself", which commands doctors to discard their selfish and pay attention to patients'interests. The second one is"help others", which commands doctors to protect patients'interests in mind. The end one is"sympathy", which is very important. In a word, we should do any thing for people's value, by which we can construct a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. The medical staff should follow four principles: changing ideal and loving people, communicating feelings and transforming thinking, respecting personality and valuing life, personalized service. The harmonious doctor-patient relationship, which has a core of human health, bases on a solid foundation of medical ethics, so the reforming of human health is a good try for reaching the purpose. It asks me to adhere to the people-oriented, care patients with love and responsibility, strengthen communication, provide warm, attentive, patient and caring services, get trust and understanding, and in the end construct a harmonious doctor-patient relationship.
