Values of the religion is the individual's cognition and understanding of the religion, the special social phenomenon of the importance of the subject to make judgments held by the inner scale., and a conception system held by individual and used to recognize and evaluate the relationship between his demand and that of religion whether it is good or bad, appropriate or inappropriate, and in line with his desire or not. Based on the results of the open-ended questionnaire, this study analyzes the cognition of the image of the religion, the emotion and behavior expression for the religion, and so on in the people of southwestern ethnic groups. And on the basis of reviewing former researches, a theoretical hypothesis of the values of the religion is put forward, then the questionnaire about the values of the religion in southwestern ethnic groups is designed and the validity and reliability are tested out. By using this questionnaire,1,216 minorities from 5 provinces in the Southwest are investigated and the effects of educational level, gender, religious status, and age etc. are analyzed to explore the characteristic of the southwest minority's values of the religion preliminary. Subsequently, this study discusses the carrier and the law of the inheritance of the values of the religion in southwestern ethnic groups and its trend of the development. The main results of this study are as follows:(1) The questionnaire of values of the religion in southwestern ethnic groups has a good validity and reliability. By means of factor analysis, the research finds that the values of the religion in southwestern ethnic groups have a multi-dimensional structure which is constructed by five dimensions:religious cognition, religious behavior, religious nationality, religious motivation and religious benefits. These are basically consistent with the theoretical hypothesis.(2) In general, the values of the religion in southwestern ethnic groups present a positive trend in every dimension and they indicate that the southwestern ethnic groups have positive recognition and attention for all aspects of the religion. And the order of rating all dimension are as follows: religious cognition, religious motivation, religious behavior, religious nationality and religious benefits.(3) There are statistically significant differences in the dimension of the religious behavior in different gender. And the women group score is higher than that of other groups.(4) There are statistically significant differences in four dimensions in different nationality: The religious cognition, the religious behavior, the religious motivation, and the religious benefits. And the mean scores of these dimensions are positive and higher than the average level.(5) There are statistically significant differences in the dimension of the religious behavior between the different age levels. Middle-aged and elderly groups have higher scores.(6) There are significantly differences in the religious cognition dimensions in different educational levels. Illiteracy and primary school education groups score slightly lower than that of other educational groups.(7) There are significantly differences in religious behavior dimensions between non-religious individuals and religious individuals. Non-religious individuals and religious individuals of 1-5 years score less than other religious individuals.(8) There is significant interaction between nation and age in religious nationality. The age and ethnic groups in the interaction of religious nationality dimensions as follows:in the young group, Bai and Yi, Dai, Hani nationality, and other significant difference. Yi, Dai, Hani nationality and the dimensions of the relatively high scores. In the middle age group, Buyi nationality score lower, and Dai, Miao, "other" nationality difference was significant. Hani and Yi, Miao, Zhuang nationality, "other" nationality compared to the relatively high scores, there are significant differences.(9) There is significant interaction between gender and educational level in the dimension of the religious benefits. In the women's groups, illiterate individuals scores higher education, and primary, secondary or technical secondary school, college and significantly different; the illiteracy level of education, men score slightly higher emphasis on the religious dimension is higher than the benefits women.(10) Education motive of religious and ethnic dimensions in the interaction. In the Yi groups, college and university education of individuals with lower scores, and illiteracy, primary, secondary or technical secondary school were significantly different; in the Dai population, illiteracy, education level of the individual and the other significant difference between the education level, scores slightly higher; the Zhuang population, illiteracy, literacy scores were significantly greater than the individual schools or secondary schools and tertiary and higher education, primary education was significantly higher than junior college and above education. (10) Southwest Ethnic differences in religious values and professional analysis of different occupational groups of people in the religious values of each dimension scores were significantly different from the equal distribution of the situation; farmers in the religious dimension of cognitive scores were significantly lower than other occupational groups were tested.
