Acdemic Self-Handicapping refers to the action of creating impediments that students take in advance either carried on or establishes some barriers orally when facing typical academic ability appraisal situation,in order to protect self-value,whice enables the students to avoided or reduces the negative apprasisal of low ability.The university students as an specially and high social ecpected youth community,did'nt have too many social superiority.They are opposite in other stage students faced with the more complex ability appraisal situation and the pressure, so their acdemic self-handicapping inevitably have some unique characteristics.Therefore, this research studies university student'acdemic self-handicapping behaviors,and focuses on four questions in the way of inventory.The first,we construct university student'academic self-handicapping questionnaire which is in accordance with the actual Chinese and with higher reliability and validity.The second,we want to know the general characteristics of acdemic self-handicapping for the university students.The third,we explore the relation between acdemic self-handicapping and self-efficacy.And the last,we aim to find out the relation between acdemic self-handicapping and perfectionism personality.According to our operation definition,based on the previous reasearchs at home and abroad,the results of open-ended investigation,the theoretical hypothesis, construct the item of questionnaire, factor anaylsis and modified the theoretical hypothesis,we constructed university student'academic self-handicapping questionnaire.The questionnaire consisted of 19 items,five primary factors.The statistical analysis results indicated that the questionnaire was reliable and validity.The following conclusions can be drawn from this sutdy:1. The questionnaire of university student'academic self-handicapping has been proven to be of reliability and validity and can be use as an effective tool to measure the university student' academic self-handicapping.lt designed in this study consisted of 19 items,which consisted of five factors,eg. Avoidance efforts, Procrastination, Pretend self-degradingt, Avoid Shirk responsibility and Underestimate the task.lt 2. Sex has significant effect on university student'academic self-handicapping.Male students have more academic self-handicapping than female students significantly.There is a sifnificant difference on major. Students of science have more academic self-handicapping than students of arts.Although university student'academic self-handicapping increased with the increasing of grade,there is no significant difference in different grade.3. The self-efficacy has significantly effect on university student'academic self-handicapping. The self-efficacy has significantly negative effect on academic self-handicapping,that is to say,the lower level self-efficacy,the more academic self-handicapping.4. Perfectionism personality has significantly effect on university student'academic self-handicapping.The Perfectionism personality has significantly positive effect on academic self-handicapping, that is to say, the higher perfectionism personality,the more academic self-handicapping.But to the factors, the fators of concern over mistakes,doubut about actions, personal standards, parental expectations, parental criticism have significantly positive effect on academic self-handicapping,while organization has significantly negative effect on academic self-handicapping.Negative perfectionism has significantly positive effect on academic self-handicapping, but positve perfectionism has significantly negative effect on academic self-handicapping.
