Since 1980s Nuclear Vocabulary theory has been out of concern, however, this paper takes a full advantage of Nuclear Vocabulary Theory to provide a new perspective in Teaching Chinese as a second Language. Based on this theory, combined with Chinese Lexical characteristics and my teaching experience, I explore to how to define Chinese core vocabulary and how to distinguish the standard applied to the actual, how to use quantitative criteria to determine overall HSK vocabulary which one is to be included in core areas and try to develop a complete glossary of the nuclear words. The main contents are as follows:Chapter One outlines the research's results and deficiencies of the Outline of HSK Vocabulary" of and nuclear vocabulary theory and its application. A brief previous relevant research and practice were briefly reviewed, then a brief outline of the terms of the meanings and effects. Then it propose that the theory is applied to the idea of teaching Chinese as a second language vocabulary, to analyze its feasibility and specificity, and make the initial configuration of the proposed framework.Chapter Two analyzes the nuclear vocabulary from multiple perspectives in, and introduces the resources of nuclear vocabulary theory and its research coverage, then puts forward to explain the basic features of nuclear vocabulary and distinguishes the difference between basic vocabulary and nuclear vocabulary. Afterwards, it separated to content words and function words to discuss their criteria, which the content words have 12 criteria and function words and adverbs have another 4 criteria, makes the simple contrast to English and Chinese and then point out the application of nuclear vocabulary criteria may arise some mistakes. This chapter is the crucial part of this paper which includes the innovation point.According to the previous chapter developed the standards, Chapter Three shift to the use of the measurement to analyze the HSK Outline words to be obtained a complete foreign core content words and core function words and adverbs tables. Those sheets are drawn from my exhaustive study to reflect the minimum vocabulary needs. Furthermore, our teaching vocabulary will be further refined and it really has certain reference value.Finally, according to the foregoing study, it puts forward the pending problems and confusion I occurred to inspire others.
