Anaphoric Function And Principle Of Qi

This thesis takes a study on anaphoric function and principle of qi which is personal pronoun. In foreign language teaching, international students often incorrectly identified the antecedent of qi to bring misunderstanding to the full article. In fact, qi as a cultural legacy is more common in modern Chinese. Written in foreign language teaching an increasingly important today, the significance of research of qi is self-evident. But compared to other forms of anaphor, the previous studies are relatively simple and weak. This thesis based on the theory of functional language, while accessibility theory of cognitive grammar theory, semantic grammar,stylistics and other related theories and methods. By the quantitative analysis of specific grammatical elements and structure, Anaphoric function and principle of Personal Pronoun qi in modern Chinese are analyzed and described more comprehensively.The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction. It summarizes former achievements on qi and raises the content and goal of this thesis.Chapter two sort out the syntactic function of qi in Ancient Chinese and focus of the investigation of the syntactic function of qi in Modern Chinese, trying a more systematic and comprehensive description of diachronic development process of qi. This chapter also analyze the syntactic function of antecedent of qi.The establishment of data tables will be used in a subsequent study.Through the use of accessibility theory in cognitive grammar theory, the third chapter analyze the accessibility of qi obtain that qi is a personal pronoun which is a high accessibility marker. As shown:Zero-pronouns) reflexives> qi> personal pronouns noun-pronounsBy the cross-cutting analysis of the syntactic function of qi and its antecedent, we found that the syntactic function of qi and its antecedent do not exist regularity, that we can not deduce the syntactic position of antecedent of qi from the syntactic function of qi. So we had to find other ways to solve the question of anaphora confirmation of qi.Chapter five contrasts the difference of qi and ta in the anaphora and obtain the anaphoric principle of qi:1. The principle of referring former 2. The principle of close 3. The principle of subject preference 4. The principle of semantic matching 5. The principle of special sentence.
