The Research On The Application Of Folk Art In Modern Package Design

Folk art is an important component of the cultural tradition of all races,which penetrates through people's lives and all walks of the spiritual world.Zhuxian Town woodcut painting, as a form of folk art with its uniqueaesthetic view, is a representative of the Chinese aesthetic perspective by itssimple and exaggerate sculpt, strong and flamboyant color, plain andoriginal lining as well as plump and magnificent form. A furtherexplanation of its aesthetic sense and artistic feature and an adoption of itsrich sculpt forms and color choices into modern packaging designing is apositive exploration into packaging designing with traditional culturecharacteristics.This thesis starts with the Zhuxian Town woodcut painting, andinvestigates mainly on its taste, creativity, sculpt artistic form, color choiceand visual symbols in order to analyze the value in applying folk art intomodern packaging designing. By re-develop and re-recognize the artisticelements of Zhuxian Town woodcut painting, this thesis attempts to find outa new development for modern packaging designing with traditional culturecharacteristics.This thesis is divided into three levels: 1. Starts with the traditionalculture in modern packaging designing, and states the traditional cultureperspective in it. Analyzes the current application of folk art into modernpackaging designing at home and abroad, and discusses the importance ofdeveloping traditional culture in Chinese modern packaging designing. 2.By further researching into the Zhuxian Town woodcut painting as arepresentative of folk art, and its sculpt and color forms, the thesisconcludes the cultural concept and aesthetic sense of Zhuxian Townwoodcut painting, and thus comes to the conclusion that it reflects the Chinese traditional aesthetic view of characteristic. 3. A further practicalresearch is made through the probe into the aesthetic view and artistic formof Zhuxian Town woodcut painting on its application and practice of itsartistic form into modern packaging designing. By the innovation of thesculpt and color forms of Zhuxian Town woodcut painting, the thesis givesa practice on the packaging designing of Zhuxian Town woodcut paintingand the traditional Kaifeng snack Peanut Cake which fosters thesignificance of the innovation of folk art in modern packaging designing.The researches from three levels mentioned above do not only addnew elements into Chinese modern packaging designing with traditionalculture characteristics, but also enrich the artistic forms of packagingdesigning, and promote the further development of traditional modernpackaging designing.
