Research On Wang Chang-yue's Commandment Ideology

Quanzhen Taoist commandment has unique characteristics in content and also plays an important part in the Taoism. However, Wang Chang-yue's Commandment Ideology, which impacts greatly and directly both on the history of Taoism and today's prescription of initiating precepts of Quanzhen Taoist, is one of the masters who achieve great success in Quanzhen Taoist Commandment Ideology.The commandment of Quanzhen Taoist stems from wide varieties of sources, possesses large and complex systems and initiates secretly. But according to the summary and refinement of Wang Chang-yue, the commandment of Quanzhen Taoist is clearly defined as Three Big Ordinations. Then Wang Chang-yue begins to initiate precepts. So Wang Chang-yue's reform in the commandment of Quanzhen Taoist contributes to the Longmen Restoration in the early Qing Dynasty. However, there are many disputes over such a great Taoist's life and his initiation practices in academic research of recent years. And the historical data recording about Wang Chang-yue is in contradiction with what is recorded in Taoist books. Therefore, this thesis gives a detailed textual research on the data needed in the research on Wang Chang-yue's Commandment Ideology.The thesis is divided into following four parts:Part one:Introduction. In this part, the author gives a brief introduction to the content of Taoist Commandments, the status of Taoist Commandments in Taoist Form and the Historical Evolution of Taoism and then simply combs the developing line of the commandment of Quanzhen Taoist.Part two:The life and works of Wang Chang-yue. Firstly, the author introduces the social and historical background of the Taoist development from Late Ming Dynasty to Early Qing Dynasty. During the whole Ming Dynasty, the Quanzhen Taoism is subject to political repression and Taoists lives a miserable life. But in the Early Qing Dynasty, the policy balancing Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism which is adopted by the Qing government provide an opportunity for the development of Quanzhen Taoism. Then, Wang Chang-yue, the initiator of Quanzhen Taoism, seizes the chances, makes the best of the situation and realizes the Longmen Restoration through the reform of the principles beginning with precepts renovation. There are works recording about his initiating and precepts renovation. Finally, the author introduces Wang Chang-yue's main works and does a partial textual research on the controversial content about Wang Chang-yue's life and works in academic research. According to the research, Wang Chang-yue has in fact existed in the past and his works are mostly systemized by his disciples and descendants.Part three:The main content of the Wang Chang-yue's Commandment Ideology,this section have a important function to introduce the discipline content that can reflect Wang Changyue's commandment Ideology.As an innovator and a master of the Commandment,Wang absorbs all kinds of thoughts and regulation ethics,on this basis,he explicitly divided Quanzhen Taoist commandment into three precepts which are beginning, middle, and supreme commandment.This chapter expatiates the main content of all kinds of commandment historical evolution and commandment ideology.,but it can not list all kinds of commandment content which primarily introduce the commandment content can reflect the main point of the thoughts.Part four:The main features of Wang Chang-yue's commandment Ideology.This part summarizes that this commandment Ideology have four main features,it puts the first place on sele-reliance, loyalty and sacrifice,outburst spirit equality of three religious systems,harmonize the relationship between reality and spirit,stress the importance of inner alchemy.These features reflected in the writes by presenting the Commandment Ideology,The artical summrise four features by analyzing commandment ideology clause and writes.Part five:The effect of the Commandment Ideology.This part mainly introduces the effect of Wang Chang-yue's commandment ideology to wang's spread and commandment practice and reseption of Quanzhen Taoist commandment.The Ideology has a representation that is the realization of spread and commandment,the movement of the initiate frist form and impartation both be connected with the thoughts of harmonizing the relationship between reality and spirit.The ideology has the immediate effect on donor-acception of Quanzhen Taoist commandment.The effect is today donor-acception of Quanzhen Taoist commandment must refer to wang's name derectly twice,the system of Quanzhen Taoist commandment is the three big ordination which refered by Wang Chang-yue.In the history of academic development,wang also has some douts on his movements,but not so many,it has the exaggerated effetion,the impartation movements in south more frequently and the obvious impact at that time.
