| Borned in the early 1980s, I am the generation of the 80s, who were children and now turned into adults in our communities. The "Only Child" policy, which was established in 1979, made them the first "Only Child" generation. Especially in Shanghai, the 80s generation are the outstanding representatives. And they were grown up in period of the reforming and opening of China, which allows them to witness and experience the special period of China. Even more unique, the " 85 New Wave " have totally changed the entire art field in China and given a great impact on their aesthetics standards, especially in Shanghai. When the 80s generation were applying for Colleges of Art, the government established the EEOC policy (Enrollment Expansion of Colleges). After they graduated from colleges, there were far more candidates for only a few positions. Under this circumstance, their hearts are still filled with hope and dream for the future. They hold a different value of life because that what they are watching, what they are hearing, what they are playing and what they are learning are totally different from any children of 80s generation. Then what on earth are these young"80 Artists"doing and thinking? This is the most important key point. |
