Phallocentrism, which is also called phallogocentrism, is a theory about men as the world's main part, and build most of the relations and the meaning of life, even mentality. In this thesis, it illustrates three literary critical angles to recognize Virginia Woolf's novel To the Lighthouse. Tracking the progressively perusal of this novel, the identical destination of this thesis is interpreted, which is to embody Woolf's deconstruction and reconstruction of phallocentrism.Woolf never accentuated the feminine world as oneness unilaterally, though she is canonized as an opponent "avant-couriter" to patriarchal society during the time of the second feminine liberation movement. On the groundwork of the deconstruction of phallocentrism, she reconstructs it throughout the feminine view---"the other's" eyes. In Woolf's reconstructed phallocentrism system, the masculine world becomes the same as the feminine world. There is also supremacy, flaccidity, and injury, as well as being injured. The whole group whom is called masculinity never can be as omnipotent as The God, nor as powerful as any Mighty who can controls the flute of nature. The whole masculine world has defects: they are sentimental, and they are the aggregate of frequent fragility. They are not in a league of their own, but in a field of fragments, which can be satisfied only by the combination and remedy from the feminine world. Men and women patch and depend on each other, no matter in which field such as economy, politics, culture, ideology, narratology, psychology etc.The thesis consists of five chapters. In Chapter One, there are the researching retrospections of Woolf's phallocentrism in To the Lighthouse, to put it as the introduction. In those previous critics, including social-historic critics, feminist writing critics and psychoanalysis critics, deconstruction of the phallocentrism occupies more space than reconstruction, and damage more than resolution, it emerges at the time the women liberation requires, While in today's atmosphere of heterosexual harmony, there is more crankiness than impartiality. That is the reason why the emphasis of reconstruction of phallocentrism needs to be taken on. In Chapter Two, it specifically narrates Woolf's deconstruction and reconstruction of the phallocentrism on social-historic critics. The aim is to find out the possibility of the harmony between the two genders, through the comparison of the heterosexual world's economic, political, and cultural condition. In Chapter Three, it explicitly describes Woolf's deconstruction and reconstruction of the phallocentrism by using feminist writing features. Through writing and rewriting the heterosexual world, women try to solve the "self-the other" problem, and live harmoniously in the new built phallocentrism system. In Chapter Four, it concretely illustrates Woolf's deconstruction and reconstruction of the phallocentrism in To the Lighthouse in women collective unconsciousness and archetype criticism. Through the analysis of psychological methods, the reconstruction of phallocentrism finds its foundation in human's origin.Through the three critical methods, the procedure of the thesis follows the order from the outside material situation to the inner spiritual world, to explain it thoroughly and accurately. In Chapter Five, the thesis comes to the conclusion, which is the innovation and significance of Woolf's deconstruction and reconstruction of the phallocentrism, including literature significance and realism significance, to make sure each step, each critical point is useful and meaningful.
