The reason why Yu Hua's pioneer works outshone the rest in the 1980s and later the warm ones are still cadenza in literature circle is the fusion of traditional and modern consciousness in creation. As an avant-grade writer, Yu Hua melted plenty passions into creations and had a sentimental attachment to the narrative form and spiritual connotation of Western modernisms as well as Chinese traditional literature. The novelty of narrative form of Western modernisms gave Yu Hua a strong impact when he started to write. In his works, the enlightening spirit of modernity and existentialism trend are combined with folk standpoint and Taoist culture of Chinese traditional literature. This combination of tradition and modernity is the distinctive landscape of Yu Hua's works, from which we can see a unique writer who is untiringly exploring.
