With the advancement of the economic globalization, cultural globalization became inevitable. On the one hand, cultural globalization promotes the communication and integration among different nations; on the other hand, it provides convenience fro the western capitalist countries to seek global hegemony. U.S.-leading western super powers strive for the global strategy of world hegemony in occupying the ideological and cultural front of other countries on the basis of economic power and advanced science and technology. The implement of cultural dominance will bring serious challenge to the cultural sovereignty and security among China-leading developing countries. Facing this, we should keep a sober mind. On the basis of understanding its nature, effective measures should be taken to dissolve the hegemony so as to promote the development of the national culture. There is a saying goes like this: knowing the enemy and yourself, you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat. Based on the above understanding, this thesis focuses on the topic—hegemony.Firstly, this thesis deals with the analysis of Frankfurt school's industrial theory of culture, E. D. Said orientalism and Stavropoulos and Harrison's cultural imperialism theory on anti-cultural hegemony theory through sorting out the cultural hegemony theory of Gramsci, Francis Fukuyama, Huntington, and tries to demonstrate a overall and deep understanding on the historical background, theoretical connotation and the class nature of cultural hegemony theory.Secondly, this thesis fatherly reveals the connotation, characteristic, from and nature of cultural hegemony on the basis of clarifying the cultural hegemony theory and anti-culture cultural hegemony theory. Cultural hegemony is the cultural value imposed by force between state and state, nation and nation. It characterized with universality and complicity in contents, diversity and invisibility in means, infiltration and conflict in effect. Cultural hegemony in western countries is usually in forms of medium hegemony, discourse control, and cultural value and ideology hegemony. Its nature is opposing relativism with cultural universalism, oppressing the native value with the universal value, criticizing the agricultural civilization with industrial civilization, tying down the authoritarianism with democratism, restricting the concrete auctoritas publica with abstract human rights.Thirdly, on the level of cultural practice, this thesis investigates western developed counties'historical process of advancing cultural hegemony. Advancing cultural hegemony is the process of"flexible-to-firm-flexible"and"westernization-to-Americanization". West-centrism, ethnocentrism and U.S.A-supreme gave color to the cultural hegemony theoretically. Strong economic power, military might, altering international political situation and the advancement of the globalization are the roots to the cultural hegemony. The analysis of the cultural hegemony roots will help us keep a sober mind to the situation, therefore work out a more practical strategy against hegemony.Finally, this thesis deals with the possible consequence of the cultural hegemony toward China-leading developing countries and puts forward China's measures in dissolving the cultural hegemony on the basis of the dual survey of cultural hegemony theory and cultural hegemony practice. Facing the strong economy of the western powers, the pressure of western powers'science and technology predominance and the ideology infiltration, we can not overlook the invasion of the cultural hegemony, the ideological struggle in cultural field. Resisting cultural hegemony is a long-term and difficult task: strengthening the consciousness of cultural safety, establishing efficient early warning system of cultural safety, speeding up the development of economy, science and technology and enhancing national power, Working out national cultural development strategy, and establishing the new international cultural order. Only in the above five aspects to work against cultural hegemony, can we defend the sovereignty of the nation, state and culture and create a harmonious cultural atmosphere for the all-round development of the state.
