Abstract/Summary:
With the economic and social development, the exchanges between China and other countries are on the rise. As a result, the demands for foreign languages especially English increase in China. Oral English plays an essential role in English learning in modern society, so it is of vital importance for learners to improve their oral English. As such, many researchers made investigations in this area for a long time. Yet, the result of oral English teaching based on traditional teaching method is still not satisfactory up to now. Inspired by this, the author tried to work out the ways to improve oral English teaching from a constructivist perspective.This thesis uses an empirical method. It consists of three parts including an introduction, the main body and conclusion. And the main body includes five chapters: chapter one is literature review of constructivism; chapter two is about researches on oral English teaching; chapter three presents constructivism-based oral English teaching; chapter four is research design; chapter five is data analysis and implications.In a word, the thesis aims to apply constructivism to college oral English teaching to improve the students'oral English based on analyzing the problems of traditional teaching models. It uses empirical study to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of constructivism to oral English teaching.
