| At present, the writings about Chinese Theories of Literature were countless. Except for the internal scholar, many abroad Sinologists who have done some contribution to the studying of Chinese Theories of Literature. American Sinologist Liu Jo—yu who wrote Chinese Theories of Literature in 1975, which of the individuality have been paid close attention to. Especially the method of the studying that it used the theories of M.H.Abrams's'four essences'becomes the scholars'foothold of the studying . But, my thesis will investigate the point of view and content about Chinese theories of Literature. Definitely, the thesis will study the'theories of metaphysics'of Chinese Theories of Literature.The thesis is divided into three parts: the preface,the body,the conclusion.The preface introduces Liu Jo—yu's life and his writings,the contents and methods of Chinese theories of Literature. The researching valuable and methods, the researching condition in academic circles.In the body part, to aim directly at three aspects as following:â… 'metaphysics theories'comprehensiveness. At first, to explain its comprehensiveness, then analyze two problems: theorists'own contradiction and to harmonize,the contradiction and to harmonize among the theorists.â…¡'metaphysics theories'view about"speech"and"thought". This part refers to three concepts:"speech","thought"and"image". So it analyzes two problems: the relation between"speech",and"thought": speech is finished but thought is infinity; the relation between"thought"and"image": obtains thought but the image is forgotten.â…¢'metaphysics theories'view about technical. Firstly metaphysics theories'Tao and technical will be analyzed. Secondly, two problems that"metaphysics theories"and"technical theories"are conflict,"metaphysics theories"and"technical theories"are confluence will be explained.The conclusion explained the valuable of"metaphysics theories", then appreciate the method which Liu Jo—yu how to write Chinese Theories of Literature.
