This project uses ethnical cultural pattern as the focal point to point out that Chinese musical culture was generated by the interaction between the nation's natural surrounding, original culture, unique thinking pattern and many other relevant factors over time. As a result, Chinese musical culture is known for its particular emphasis on respect for life, practicality and the philosophy of "moderation and harmony". Influenced by such musical culture, traditional Chinese music, regardless whether it's its musical characteristics such as content, form, aesthetics, or, its category in terms of palace music, folk music and civilian music, etc. or even the social role such music plays in various historical dynasty, has all demonstrated a flair of "entertaining" nature. Such tendency is a very critical social psychological factor that should not be overlooked in order to expand contemporary music's entertaining appeal to the public.This research project has also adopted various research approach that is frequently used for studying social and humanity subjects to conduct in depth study of Chinese musical culture. It has also made a strong endeavor to use different historical perspective, causal effect approach and other analytical tools to study China's musical culture from a musicology, cultural, psychological and aesthetics perspective. The author strives to use a much broader social and ethnic cultural view to ascertain China's music history and its present development and to employ the ethnical group's deeper social psyche to master the true nature of Chinese music.
