The outcome of the design process largely determines the eco-efficiency of the product, so it is designer's responsibility to avoid the negative influences on the environment, and to develop new design strategies to sustainability. In the background of service economy, people prefer to buy the solutions rather than the products. People takes more concerns on the outcome products bring. It shows that products are not the only media to meet customer's needs in this modern days. As a result, we need to utilize the systematic thinking, incorporating the service strategies to the product design strategies,so that the resource and material could be less consumed.The essay starts from the background of sustainable development. According to the analysis of the contents, it points out the concept of product service system design. Based on the overall and detailed discussion, it tenders three essential parts of product service system design.
