Yuan's family was in the Chen County and had a tradition of literature. The literary tradition and the thought and character of him are the important basis which made his literary activities occur. Yuan's ancestors advocate Confucianism and the family literature tradition was prosperous gradually. Yuan Hong's creation was subtly influenced by family tradition. He also played an important character in the family literature development process. Yuan Hong's thought and character was quite complex. Under the influence of the thought of the nature that united with Confucianism at that time, Yuan's thought about metaphysics and Confucianism mutually fused. He's strong and honesty. His conduct was free and easy. All these affected his creation enormously. The second chapter, Yuan Hong's poems. There are six poems have been saved today. The most unabridged two of them, the history-intoned poem, which is his magnum opus, has the characteristics of "sketching historical person" and "expressing personal feelings" at the same time. Besides the history-intoned poem, there are philosophical poem, ancient-imitated poem and even no titled poem. There is slightly more philosophy in the philosophical poem, but description of the interesting natural scenery and certain iconicity doesn't absent. The ancient-imitated poem, which only had some remnant sentences saved, was embellished carefully. There are short of this kind of poem between Western Jin Dynasty and Tao Yuanming's Dynasty and Yuan Hong's poem supplies a gap. The no titled poem expresses his ambition by eulogizing the noble and pure moral character of the pin aster. The third chapter, Yuan Hong's articles. Yuan Hong's ode and the epitaph were most well-known. His ode mainly involves two kinds of themes, warpath and feast. Compared with similar works in the past generations, Yuan's has characteristics of careful description and formal form. The ornate diction and fluency rhythm make his article beautiful. Yuan Hong is one of the representations of epitaph writer in Eastern Jin Dynasty. His works, some of them have formal form and ornate diction and some of them strengthened narrative and touching, not only inherited the tradition of praising personal character of the epitaph, but also manifested the recent development of epitaph in Wei and Jin Dynasty. It is said that "Luo Shan Shu" was written by Yuan Hong. "Yi Wen Lei Ju" and "Tai Ping Yu Lan" quote clauses of it, but this can not be proved by booklists about Confucianism and history. "Luo Shan Shu" has several titles, "Luofu Shan Shu" and "Luofu Ji" and so on. In later generations someone considered that Yuan Hong had written "Luofu Shan Ji". Inquisiting from obvious texts and correlated data, no matter what the title is, Yuan Hong did had written a geography book about Mountain Luofu. The fourth chapter, evaluation of Yuan Hong's historical works in a literary aspect. This kind of work is "Eastern Han Dynasty Discipline" and "Biography of the Famous litterateur". "Eastern Han Dynasty Discipline" is an annalistic style history book and its literariness is manifested in three aspects. Firstly, it's the narrative art of complete plot and prominent detail. Next it's the method to record the person by kinds. In addition, the language is abstruse and elegant and the words are concise and full of literary talent. "Biography of the Famous litterateur", the entire book was lost, is a compositive biography. Besides the remnant sentences in "Biography of The Famous in Bamboo Jungle" that edited by Han Geping, in this paper, there are twenty more sought from other books. "Biography of the Famous litterateur ", which is an earlier biography records famous litterateur in modern times, had certain influence to the novels primarily record famous litterateur after that. Its language is succinct and vivid. It combines the facticity of historiography and beauty of literature together. The literature reveals the characteristics of Yuan Hong himself, and reflects the characteristics of that age.
