In the big development of secondary vocational schools, the reform of vocational education is urgently necessary. For years, the basic teaching of design major in secondary vocational school follows the old teaching mode, including lack of creation consciousness, unclear teaching aims, basic teaching content badly matching the major, confusing the distinction between practical education and ordinary education, confusing the types and function among distinguished courses, lack of systematic and rational teaching design, and appropriate evaluation. The old mode of design major is far from design idea. It is proved that dogmata and misaimed teaching mode is not fit for the need of its development, and becomes a hindrance to the teaching reform and design major development.By the research of sketch practical teaching, the special teaching method and its teaching mode is made which adjust to the artistic design major of secondary vocational school, as to improve students' interest, and practical guidance to the teaching design, change one's consciousness and role, cultivate students' creational ideas of profiling applied in the subject design. According to the analysis of individual case, the paper offers a directed and corresponding teaching idea to stimulate students' interest, increase their design creation consciousness, and promote the design major development.Practical research methods: by the teaching aim of secondary vocational school scientific teaching aim is made with design sketch teaching to cultivate students' reproduction, expression and creation abilities. The contents include the sketch corresponded with advertisement design, garment design and interior design. The different teaching aims are made by different major, and correct and reasonable teaching evaluation is followed to set up. By the analysis of individual case, practical teaching is tested to need teaching aim including interest cultivation, aesthetic standards building to nature, society and artistic works, students' studying ways and self-learning, self-research cultivation. The paper uses behaviour, observation, interview and experience ways to research, and analyzes the information materials above to explain the advantages of new teaching mode.
