This thesis is based upon a scrupulous and extensive observation and examination in the framework of the modern Italian vocabulary and lexicological study, taking into account two important elements associated to the lexicology, i.e. the etymological study and the paretymological study (the par-/etymology); thanks to an abundant quantity of explicative examples, the author tries to look into the very true essence of the par-/etymological studies, which, unjustifiably, are regarded by some contemporary lexicologists and foreign language teachers to be obsolete from the pragmatical point of view; as a result, much more attention has been shifted to grammatical study in relation with syntax. Albeit, nowadays with the rapid emergence of new words (incorporated with new meanings or newly-composed)in our consumistic society in accordance with the unexpectable development of our times, more and more specialists and language users are getting aware of how importantly and necessarily the par-/etymology can be of our help and thus in proper manners be taught in classroom and elsewhere, that is to say, not only helping us to know, but also to know about larger quantity of words, through which enriching our understanding of this surrounding world.
