The Research On Huizhou Literates And Their Works In The Middle Of Southern Song Dynasty

Huizhou literature is an important part of Hui Studies, which for a long period of time has not been brought to scholar's attention. Actually, Huizhou literature goes back to ancient times, for example there was a well- known writer Wu Shaowei as early as the Tang Dynasty. As the central government of Song's moving to the south of the Yangtze River, the economic center transferred, when the economy, culture and literature of Huizhou developed rapidly. All these situations has laid the foundation for Huizhou literature's achievement in Ming and Qing Dynasty. On the basis of former scholars' researches, my thesis mainly focuses on the contents and characteristics of Huizhou literature, from which I mainly expound my viewpoints.First, the characteristics of cultural geographical and the social conditions in the middle of Southern Song Dynasty which influenced Huizhou literature.Huizhou lay in the south of Anhui province, consisted of She, Yi, Xiuning, Wuyuan, Qimen, Jixi counties in Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing, circumfused by mountains and rivers. The culture of Huizhou had been changed through the three migrations of population in Chinese history. During the Southern Song Dynasty, traditional culture had been very prosperous in these areas.Before the Northern Expedition of Kaixi, from Xiaozong to Ningzong period, the political stability, social development and improvement of people's material and spiritual life, are all advantageous to the development of culture. During this period of time when academic thinking is active, the Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming Dynasties has been well developed and has a direct impact on literature. Huizhou scholars in such conditions created a large number of literary works. Secondly, the study about Huizhou scholars' ideology.In my opinion, Huizhou scholars' ideology can be classified into political thought and literary thought. Political thought included four aspects: the thinking of closely combination of "rule by law" and "rule by Virtue", the theory of giving the suitable part to the suitable man, the theory of managing financial matters for people, the idea of protect border and people. Political ideas of Huizhou scholars in the middle of Southern Song Dynasty have two features: harmony and "focusing on reality and caring for people". The content of literary ideas consists of two parts: the thinking of using the article to promote morality and the naturally and fresh aesthetic standard.Thirdly, the analysis of Huizhou scholar's article and poesy in the middle of Southern Song.The article of Huizhou literates in the middle of Southern Song in according to the forms of literature will be sorted into four categories: dissertation, miscellanea, preface and fu. Analyses about these articles will be given in this part of my thesis. Besides, their lyrical poetry and the poetry about Confucian philosophy will be studied, so that the thought of artistry of these works can be summed up at the end of this part.
