| 1902, Liang Qichao launched a "revolution in fiction circle". Since then, fictions, which are discriminated and labeled as vulgar reading, have officially boarded the literary arena. This revolution has a non-ignorable impact on the current literary world, with significant influence on the development trend of the fictions in the late Qing Dynasty.By organically combining "The All-story Monthly" and its background "revolution in fiction circle", this article is devoted to the investigation of the time marks shown by "The All-story Monthly" against the background of "revolution in fiction circle", the inheritance and development, the discard and refutation towards the theories and ideas of the revolution, the combination of education and entertainment to the public, as well as its contribution and shortcomings to the transformation and further development of the literary world.The first chapter of this article presents a brief introduction to the existing research results of "The All-story Monthly", the political enlightenment purpose of "revolution in fiction circle", as well as the actual impact on the change of literary world. The second, third, forth and the fifth chapters investigate the inheritance and alienation of "The All-story Monthly" to the spirit of "revolution in fiction circle", from the four aspects of the magazine initiation, article collection activities, commerciality and entertainment, and the theory of fiction advocated by the magazine, respectively. Meanwhile, the detailed impact and the following actual effect of "novel world revolution" on the literary world are studied. |
