Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, Polish-born composer and renowned pianist, was regarded as"piano poet"due to his great contribution to piano performance and creative work. During his lifetime, Chopin wrote various kinds of musical styles and the style which could represent the nationality of Chopin music mostly was Mazurek.As the content of courses, Mazurek is essential for students learning piano performance. Understanding Chopin and the nationality of Mazurek can raise students'capability of explaining his work and standards of piano performance. If they want to understand the development of music history during the romantic period, students who study western music history in the 19th century should know Chopin's road to music-especially the creative work on Mazureks having a far-reaching influence on the form and development of European national music school in the latter half of 19th century. Consequently, further discussion on the nationality of Mazurek is of vital importance to the teaching on piano performance and music history.This thesis is about the form and development of Mazurek. It analyses rhythms,melodes,chords, especially the nationality of Mazurek. By studying the nationality of Mazurek the author wants to provide the directions for the related piano performance, work appreciation and teaching on music history.
