Legal translation is now playing an increasingly important role in our country as we begin to have more and more exchanges with other countries. The translation of legal terminology is a vital part of legal translation. In some way,the quality of the translation of legal terminology directly influences the quality of the legal translation task as a whole.However,C-E legal translation,C-E translation of legal terminology in particular,is far from completely satisfactory in our country.Due to the lack of unified theoretical guidance, legal translators tend to be very casual in their choices of translation strategies.Domestication and foreignization are the two strategies in translation, and their application depends on specific situations. In this thesis, the author first makes a survey on C-E translation of legal terminologies(including the application of translation strategies)in our country, finding out the deficiencies and analyzing the possible causes for these deficiencies. And then, with an eye to compensate for these deficiencies, the author of this thesis develops a comprehensive framework for terminological analysis, which aims at guiding translators to conduct comprehensive and profound pre-translation analysis before they choose a translation strategy in a final sense. With such analysis, translators can get a full understanding of the terms involved and thus can expect to make a more scientific as well as more reasonable choice of translation strategy, which in turn will help enhance the quality of C-E legal translation at large.
