As the core of chinese ancient writers'value system, fame outlook has a profound effect on their life orientation and attitude, thus affects their works. Poets'fame outlook and its influence on their works is an important constituent part of the social-cultual study of all the poems in Tang and Song Dynasty. Researches on this might shed some light on the cultural reasons for the formation of poems'characteristics in this particular period of time. This thesis attempts to take the excellent poets in the early days of Northern Song Dynasty as the study object and tends to summerize their fame outlook's phase characteristics and its formation from both a horizontal and vertical view. Based on this, this thesis moves on to the study of its effects on the poetic development in Song Dynasty, hoping to do more thorough research on poems from a new perspective. In the introduction, after given clear definitions of"the preliminary period of Northern Song Dynasty"and"fame outlook", this thesis combs the formation process of poets'fame outlook in the early days of Northern Song Dynasty, and analyzes the relationship between the poets'fame outlook and their works.Seeing that the phase characteristics of poets'fame outlook in the early days of Northern Song Dynasty are so obvious and its effcts are so profound on the poetic development at its time, the main part of this thesis falling into three chapters is dedicated to the elaboration of these phase characteristics. The first chapter elaborates the poets'outlook on fame from suspicion to acknowledgement when there are comparatively small amount of published poems, and conducts a comparative research between two communities: the hermit poets and the scholar-bureaucrats. The second chapter conducts comparative researches mainly on the famous poets, Fan Zhongyan, Yan Shu, Zhang Xianwei and their shared outlook on fame from acknowledgement to identity lost. The third chapter focuses on transition-period of poetry. By studying the excellent poets Ouyang Xiu, Du Anshi, Zhang Boduan and Wang Anshi and their fame outlook from identity lost to confusion, the thesis probes into their fame outlook's effcts upon their works. The conclusion makes a summary of the poets'fame outlook, its phase characteristics and formation in the early days of Northern Song Dynasty and sums up fame outlook's effcts upon poetic development from a historical view.
